Your first visit to any Dental Office tells a lot about the office and Doctor. We try to create a welcoming environment where you are thoroughly cared for. We listen to your concerns, we care about you and your results, we explain in detail every step of the way so that you can make informed decisions.
We start by setting up an appointment where you can meet the Doctor and receive a thorough exam which includes:
- Oral Cancer screening
- Orthodontic screening
- Periodontal screening
- Diagnodent Laser Decay screening
- Intraoral Photos of all teeth
- X-rays as necessary
- Informational videos regarding any areas of concern, to help you make informed decisions.
From this exam, the doctor will discuss any conditions she sees that may require treatment. The Doctor will only recommend immediate treatment if there is some pressing or potentially life threatening emergency present.
Next, you will see your Hygienist, who cleans your teeth and continues the exam process often including a 6 point probe to determine bone levels and Diagnodent laser readings on potential cavities so we can determine the depth of any cavity before the Doctor begins to work on it. Your Hygienist will also give you valuable information to help you keep your teeth healthy for a lifetime.
Finally, we make a special appointment for the Doctor to sit down to take the time with you to discuss any areas of concern that were discovered and go over the various options for treatment. There is usually more than one way to skin a cat (or repair a tooth), so we like to give you more than one scenario to consider.
More often than not, patients are looking to fully handle the disease and decay in their mouths, however, sometimes it is wise to simply stop the spread of disease, or address some other physical ailment. Sometimes bonding is preferable to porcelain crowns. Each patient has a unique set of circumstances that requires a unique handling. The Doctor will present various options – and you, as the patient (now fully informed by the previous steps of the process), are able to make the best decision for your future health.
